Photo Shoot and Workshop with Top Knots and Annmarie Swift

When I was contacted by Makeup by Sarah Lord about a photo shoot with Annmarie Swift, of course I said YES. Then I found out it was actually going to be a workshop... and I was thrilled! Lots of creative minds in one space sharing ideas and growing creatively **dream come true**. The workshop was officially the first of many hosted and coordinated by Top Knots, a shared workspace that inspires women to be creative and strong, located in Newburyport and run by Sarah Lord and Callie Haffernan.

I used to work at a large studio style florist. Tons of creatives in one room. Everyone growing by collaborating and pushing themselves creatively. Just the inspiration when you looked up from your work bench and really took it in... was amazing. I really miss that kind of collaboration and daily inspiration. This workshop really felt like that.

Now, I wasn't teaching (although I'd love to in the future), nor was I taking the class. I just provided florals. But it was still inspirational to see so many photographers excited, shooting and learning.

CW Events and Design really shaped the look of the table and Fleur + Stitch provided a few florals and hung some greenery and amaranthus from the pergola. Unfortunately it started to really rain, and come in sideways to boot. But we worked it out, got some shots and decided to set it up later inside to give the photogs an opportunity to get some detail shots.

A great learning tool... roll with the punches. Sometimes things don't go the way you planned, events tend to throw curve balls every now and then. Regroup, think outside the box and execute in a timely manner.

We featured a really lovely pallet for the flowers. The workshop was highlighting the "Ultra Violet" pantone color of the year. I wanted to incorporate some burgundy into the mix of flowers, because burgundy is a trend that is just not giving up, so how can we evolve it and make it fresh? Well... behold lavender, burgundy, and blush... AMAZING. So much depth can be achieved with this pallet.

The invitation suite was designed by the talented Simply B, who creates custom luxury invitations and paper goods. I've worked with her on several projects and her attention to detail, quality and design are hard to beat.

I like to utilize photo shoots to capture images of things I haven't done before, things that inspire me or concepts I'd like to show clients in the future. The house where we were shooting had an amazing mantle, so obviously I had to do an asymetrical installation. My only regret was that I didn't take a picture in front of it lol!

I used roses, hydrangea, astrangia, hellebours and lisiathus. For greenery I used flat or silver dollar eucalyptus and myrtle.

Like I mentioned before, we ended up re setting up the outdoor display inside. We added all of the details we had initially planned on using outside and I think the results were still amazing.

A huge thank you to Annmarie Swift for use of all of her images and also Ron April Realestate for letting us use this gorgeous property.
